Today woke up early to get a workout out in
I decided to do a bit of HIIT training. Warmed up with a 5km high resistance ride. And ended with a 2.5km sprint on the treadmill. I prefer doing sprints in the morning before eating as it burns more energy and the best part makes me super excited for the best meal of the day breakfast!!! Next time I post I’ll be back home

Sooo this happened about five months ago but I just got around to procuring a legit photo. (Trust me, you don’t want to see the action shots). After being a competitive swimmer my whole life I finally committed to racing in a triathlon.
But more than crossing a goal off my bucket list, the training transformed my approach to exercise. Goals became focused on how fast I could run a mile instead of how many calories I could burn during that mile. I became excited to get stronger, rather than skinnier. 🚴🏼♀️
While I’ve been laying low during the “off season”, I’m excited to get back into it and train for another race. Life-long habits and mindsets cannot be changed over night but I’m feeling optimistic.

How great is walking??? Just being able to use my legs - albeit slowly and heel-to-toe deliberately - feels decadent. Also decadent was the massage I had tonight; decadent and necessary. 10 weeks on #crutches paired with my new hip-rockin limp has my back on the verge of revolt. The massage studio I go to is a 15 minute ~3/4 mile stroll from my house, which is farther than I can hoof at the moment - especially after overdoing it a bit in #bootcamp this morning. But I desperately wanted to do a little walking as it’s my greatest joy right now, so I drove halfway there and then stretched my legs the last three blocks. Still getting used to my new normal - to my new limitations as well as my new gratitude for every little thing. .
And I’m hoping these bootcamp-wrought aches will be gone in the morning because I can’t spend another night crying on the kitchen floor. (Literally my #PT just texted me, ‘please don’t spend another night crying on the kitchen floor.’)
