Happy birthday to...ME!! Last year brought a TON of changes- house, marriage, baby, my own business, and a career shift! I couldn’t be happier!
To celebrate, for the 4th year in a row, I ran a half marathon. It’s my way of telling myself age is just a number and I’m capable of amazing things (although I write this from an epsom salt bath (which should be an ice bath but isn’t) because my joints are achy and I feel like I just had another baby) 🤷🏽♀️this might be the year I call it quits on half’s 🤦🏽♀️
Anywho, my whole point is, that among all the chaos, amongst all the change life brings, the thing that has always been consistent is my health and fitness. Because I follow a workout routine, I hold myself accountable and I find myself being more productive and having the energy to do things- like amazing things- like starting MY own business!🙌🏼

30 mile bike ride today was truly epic. 15 miles of climbing somewhere between 2800 and 3200 feet, followed by 10 miles of screaming downhill. Once tucked in aero, I flew down for 10 miles of headwinds at 38+ mph. Last 5 miles of easy rollers. The views were beautiful. Thanks, Hawaii.
What do you see? Maybe you now that situation: There are idols who we admire. We remember their greatest moments in sport, we have the picture in mind, when winner stand on the podium.
But what most people don’t see are the liters of sweat, the moments of pain and all the work that were necessary to succeed.
So don’t compare yourself with others. Look for your own way. No one gets the big things for free. You have to leave the comfort zone once in a while... 😉
#TBT to the @phxmarathon Half. I love race day, because you experience so many emotional extremes. The morning starts with stress and anxiety as you wait for the race to begin. Soon after that stress morphs into suffering as your body screams for you to stop. And then you experience elation as you cross the finish line, all pains from the race forgotten! Looking forward to my next race already - the Victoria @ironmantri 70.3!
How great is walking??? Just being able to use my legs - albeit slowly and heel-to-toe deliberately - feels decadent. Also decadent was the massage I had tonight; decadent and necessary. 10 weeks on #crutches paired with my new hip-rockin limp has my back on the verge of revolt. The massage studio I go to is a 15 minute ~3/4 mile stroll from my house, which is farther than I can hoof at the moment -especially after overdoing it a bit in #bootcamp this morning. But I desperately wanted to do a little walking as it’s my greatest joy right now, so I drove halfway there and then stretched my legs the last three blocks. Still getting used to my new normal - to my new limitations as well as my new gratitude for every little thing. .
And I’m hoping these bootcamp-wrought aches will be gone in the morning because I can’t spend another night crying on the kitchen floor. (Literally my #PT just texted me, ‘please don’t spend another night crying on the kitchen floor.’)
When jumping back up to the @ironmantri distance this year I knew I would need all the help I could get. So I reached out to @ricoferrante and he got me set up with an incredible line up of @medterracbd products! —> right to see! I’ve gotta say after a hard 6 weeks of training I won’t go back. The rubs are incredible! The daily CBD dose has been great for my mood and joints but my favorite is the melatonin/cbd for those nights when your body is fighting you to fall asleep after a brutal day of training! Get yourself some #secretsauce ladies and gentlemen!
