My hair, water, gummies and granola bar were all frozen solid, but it was the best run I’ve had in a couple weeks! 5 more long runs until the Hogeye Marathon!!🥳 A huge thank you to my husband who had the breakfast I was dreaming about at mile 10 ready for me when I got home! 😋 He’s the best!! 🥰
Took a run out to the Sacramento River today and you know what I saw along the way? A lot of water. So much water it was like finding new lakes and rivers. I also found some signs that spring is coming soon.
It was a cloudy morning today. There was an eerie feeling in the air when I got to the trail by the lake. The trail no longer had snow. The lake is almost frozen entirely. There were plenty of birds, geese, Falcons, and a few Golden Eagles flying around.
I have been wanting to run more than 10 miles in quite a while. So, I set a goal to run a half marathon as a training run. Given the speed workout yesterday, I did not know how my body would hold for the entire distance. I certainly did not want to start struggling halfway into my run. The body warmed up nicely, and the pace increased slowly but surely. Once I got to the midpoint, I knew I had a lot left in the tank. So, I began to push hard. I had my doubts, and I did not think I could run the second half faster. As it turns out, I was able to. And, the last two miles were my fastest. I could not believe it! It was hard, and it certainly reassured me that my body is certainly getting stronger. It was a fun and a very productive run.

Don't let this smile deceive you. That long run was tough. The headwinds were strong and decent footing was hard to find. Lots of ice, lots of rutted frozen snow and lots of #quickslush. Grateful for the company of @achristi74 or it might not have gotten done. First 30 km of the season in the bank.

6 miles along the beach road in 18 mph winds out of the NE. But we finished right before the rain started 🙌 Great way to start the morning!

Routinely unlocking tight muscles before running, swimming, biking even yoga allows me to bounce back 100% each time. I mean I can’t brunch hard if I have tight hips. Word to the wise for fellow office dwellers and weekend warriors is always make time for the little things to prevent big injuries.
Here's the view from yesterday's miserable run commute home at the start of the blizzard (straight into the wind and ice pellets! 🌬️) and my view out my window from this morning's treadmill workout! (I have the best little shoveler!) This week's @oacracing team workout was 2 x 2000m at HMP plus 5 x 400m at 10K pace. The first rep was a struggle, but once I got in a groove, I almost enjoyed it!
All the schools here are closed for the first time that I can remember since I was in high school, so we've got a day planned of shoveling, crafting snow play, movie watching, cupcake baking and trying to get a bit of work done. ☃️ Stay safe #winterrunners!
