Do you finish what you start?⠀
Be honest. Most of us don't.⠀
In fact, I was one of the worst offenders. I would get all dreamy-eyed about some project I wanted to start or some new hobby I wanted to pursue, but after the initial infatuation wore off, I'd find myself quitting or giving up.⠀
Everyone has what I call the "closet of broken dreams."⠀
In it you'll find those old soccer cleats, that yellow belt from Karate, the guitar you never quite learned how to play, your unfinished book, that iPhone app you were going to create...⠀
Before I was a finisher I worked hard, but my effort was wasted, because you get 0% benefit from things you get 90% done.⠀
I'll repeat that.⠀
You get 0% benefit from things you get 90% done.⠀
Why waste all the effort of getting to 90% done.⠀
If you start something, FINISH IT!⠀
Once I became a finisher, my life changed.⠀
Within a few years of committing to become a finisher, the following things happened:⠀
1. I became a millionaire.⠀
2. I finally got 6-pack abs.⠀
3. I published a book on the WSJ best-seller list.⠀
4. I built 2 companies.⠀
5. I quit my regular job—forever.⠀
Stop taking half-measures.⠀
Are you going to be a finisher? ⠀
Commit below, tag someone for accountability!⠀
My brilliant friend, Tacita, has a New Year’s eve tradition of setting goals for the coming year instead of a “New Year’s resolution list”. The #visionboard is kind of like a prayer on things that of happened in your life in the past year that you want to change or shift in the coming year. For me, I want to be the #Professional when others aren’t, and being a pro can be well dressed casually or formally. I also nod to a few of inspirations: Tristano ⏱who is a class act in adversity and takes joy in the work he has found himself in. J.D. 📚 who is incredibly adaptive and extremely knowledgeable. The other JD 🥁 who is not afraid to put in work and not afraid to be himself who inspires me to no end. A nod to the #bible that mentions not to fear over 365 times (that’s a once a day reminder to be #fearless). Cheers to #TheGentry 🥃 To a mentor of mine who taught me to define #mybrand , build it and respect it which will be defined and respected, even if everyone is not a “Ken Fan” ☕️. To my family, let’s go on That vacation we talked about ❤️ . I am grateful for those who taught me and have said kind things to me, also to those who tried to pull me to hell with them, fare thee well- I belong on a higher plain. #letusbegin#2019goals#ucantstopme#iHaveFaith#FaithAndWorks#goalnumbers#workforit#seeitthrough#alwaysfinish#consistent#consistency#newyear#goals#fearnot#dontbeafraid#fearnot365#doit#getitdone#geterdone#growth
In life it is so easy to start something. Like eating correctly, working out, and or anything that you wish to improve on in your personal life.
Often times it’s the commitment of seeing everything to its end tends to be the problem. Take on the the things that challenge you the most first and progress from there. Build on small victories
Always finish what you start and Finish Strong.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from running the 400m is always finish the race! .
Don’t forget to look back and see how far you’ve come. Count all of the little victories and also count all of the defeats that you stood back up from. .
Well... #medalmonday is a wrap! My 15th IM 70.3 is officially in the books!
I’ll give you the quick synopsis of the day...NOT WHAT I WANTED! 😒
The picture tells the story! 😔
🚨Here’s the mini break down🚨
The swim ended up being a non wetsuit swim, which isn’t the biggest deal...but will slow you down. 🤷🏼♂️ The water temp was 81 deg. 🔥
🏊🏻♂️: 37:33 - 26/120 in AG
The bike, WOW...up and down, up and down. Just under 3000ft of climb! 🚴🏻♂️⛰🚴🏻♂️⛰🚴🏻♂️
Within the first 10 miles I stopped 3x’s trying to fix a rub in my rear tire. 🤬 By the 3rd stop I figured it was my rear break rubbing every time I engaged the breaks. 🤦🏼♂️ The cable wasn’t pulling the breaks back...so I did what anyone would do!!! I disengaged the rear break! 🤷🏼♂️👊🏻
🚴🏻♂️: 2:40:54 - 34/120 in AG
Finally, the run! My plan the whole day was wrapped around a good run day, but coming off the bike I felt like death! 🚴🏻♂️☠️🏃🏼♂️
Did I mention the temperatures topped 90deg yesterday?! And, it had been raining the days before so humidity was up!! 😝😝
My target was 8:30/mile on the run...it ended at 11:15/mile!! 😩😤
One of my worst runs to date!
The heat and the climbs destroyed me! 🏃🏼♂️⛰🔥🏃🏼♂️⛰🏃🏼♂️🔥 The race became a battle for the finish. 🤨
🏃🏼♂️: 2:27:15 - 79/120 in AG ( #embarrassing 🤦🏼♂️)
Overall, not my day! Lots to work on before Coeur d’Allen in 3 weeks. 🤔
A finish is a finish! On to the next one! 🙌🏻👊🏻👍🏻🤘🏻
