A hero arrived home
In a casket full of depth.
He collapsed backwards
When he was stuck in head,
Dropped his arms pecisely
And said he did his best.
A state funeral declared his arrival
And the society swelled with c'est,
For a 21-cannon gun was fied
At a fallen-soldier's death.
One more was pinned
One more down the best,
How many more we need
For the enimity of the rest? - Simmy chawla
Hey there it’s me, Katie. I’m here in front of the camera instead of behind it for a change. I just wanted to take a minute of time to give you a pep talk. I was listening to a podcast this week that said there are two things you have control over in your life. Your EFFORT and your ATTITUDE. ⠀
Sometimes it’s hard to wake up and put a smile on your face. Sometimes it’s hard to put on your shoes and get dressed for an unfulfilling job and a boss that treats you with no respect. Trust me, I get it. I’ve been in all of these places before, and I’m not asking you to do anything I haven’t done before you. ⠀
But guess what else I know?⠀
It’s easy to be angry and bitter and a hater. It take a heck of a lot less effort. ⠀
Ya wanna know another thing? ⠀
I think it’s pretty lame. ⠀
It’s pretty lame to wanna hurt people and being them down. Guess what else?!? It also hurts YOU. It hurts you to be angry and bitter. Resentment and anger are not normal psychological processes. In fact, they are often revealed on the surface to cover up other emotions — emotions that are hurting ya at our core. Maybe you aren’t hurting yourself intentionally, but you’re letting the negativity of other bring you down. ⠀
Instead of letting other people dictate your future, I encourage you today to TAKE OWNERSHIP of your own life. Make the choice to change your attitude for the better, and strive to live a life of example. Each interaction I partake in, each person I meet, each task I complete, I want people to remember in a positive way. This doesn’t always mean that it’s going to be easy — in fact, I think it’s probably going to be pretty hard. Therein lies the beauty. Most things that are worthwhile do not come easily. If you’re succeeding you’ll probably have haters and if you’re passionate for a cause there will most certainly be people that will oppose you. Just keep on trying, wake up every day motivated to share your message, and whether it’s empowerment, positivity, joy, strength, or patience — rub off on the world in a way that leaves it more beautiful then when you found it.
