Had my first @retul_technology fit today at @wheelworksbikes . . I finally have hope that I’ll be able to ride a tri bike again. They understood my injury and immediately could point to why it happened, and what I need to do in the future to accommodate my body geometry, goals, and physical restraints. Highly recommend them if you are having issues and/or in the market for a bike. . . They confirmed what I suspected - that my bike is too big and the brand was not the best choice for my body. . . With measurements in hand, I have some research to do while I try to sell my current tri bike. . . I love my @bettydesigns kit, so special and beautiful, and so comfy, and it fits to my rental bike, a Stevens Xenon, first time for me with SRAM, but after few minutes I got it how to use it, it isn't so different to Shimano. But I'm honest about the first cycle trip here on Lanzarote, it's so windy today, over 40 km/h wind, and I'm usually a tough tall woman, I work in a rough untypical job for a woman, but there I have no problems (hopefully it stays so in future) and a lot of situations are unsure or can change to dangerous, but when I sit on the bicycle and have a different area, downhill situations or a lot of wind from the side and and I'm so afraid and cycle with 20 km/h down or get off the bike and could cry, I absolutely need a psychiatrist or mental coach, I'm so done with that, I love the sport, but my mind is stopping me, why??? Who has the same problems? Is the cause to be found in my childhood? My parents didn't give me much confidence on the way, every time I heard take care, drive slowly, I got a bike with backpedal brake, but I'm grown up now, I need help, I could say okay, I stop with triathlon and don't go into those situations, but NO!!, I don't want that, I'm almost 44 years old and it's never to late to face fierce and to win over my mind, I wanna learn to handle such situations, probaply I will never drive down a mountain with 100 km/h, but that's not a serious goal, 50 km/h would be okay for me, that's a goal. And to get enough confidence that I don't fall off the bike with side winds, even when I drive downhill or a mountain, that's a big goal. Who has such problems and has tips for me or can just give me encouraging words? Had a blast at the West Lakes triathlon today and came away with 3rd with a 6 minute pb! Love my new tri suit by @bettydesigns and my fellow lakers ladies. Also the biggest win of the day.... this was the first race i think ever where i had no GI issues and didn't even take immodium! Ups and downs! Yesterday was a hard day, a bad day. I was really sore from PT on Thursday and struggling with whether it was all good pain or bad pain and by the evening I had quite convinced myself it was the latter. I spiraled so far that while loading the dishwasher before bed I somehow found myself sitting on the kitchen floor crying. I was sure I’d re-broken my hip and that I was going back on the crutches. I felt a thousand times better today-no pain. Planned to try a #swim but the pool was closed so decided to give the #bike a spin. Just putting these shorts on was emotional and I cried fat happy tears driving over to @offroaddc to ride. All the things I’ve taken for granted before seem like overwhelming gifts now. Bff @claricelorenzini warned me the waterworks would continue and she wasn’t wrong. Got 15 glorious minutes in the saddle with no resistance and no standing so mostly just learning to move my legs that way again - basically I cried more than I sweat today but it’s a start!

We had ideal conditions this morning for a great and hilly 22 mile run! ⛰⛰❤️ I couldn’t have done it without @outdoorsgrl who took me on this epic adventure (totally her idea 😂✨). Throwback to my Q&A with @everybodyisabetty from a few months ago. ・・・ Time for another Betty Q&A! Say hello to 4th year #bettysquad member Jennifer Liptrot aka @pbandjen . Hometown: I lived in 3 different cities along the Hudson River growing up & definitely consider NYC and its suburbs home. . What got you started in triathlon? A neighbor got a bunch of us to train for 5Ks. Two years later she encouraged all of us to train together for a super sprint triathlon. After my first triathlon, I was hooked. My first 70.3 at Raleigh in 2015. I was never much of an athlete so completing this distance was huge for me! I am looking forward to increasing my power and stamina to PR in the half marathon and half ironman distances. . Fave race distance: Half marathon distance for the run and half ironman for triathlon. I like having a goal on the calendar that takes a few months of preparation. . Fave event: I really love the Gran Fondo Hincapie cycling event in Greenville SC. It’s a super challenging bike ride and it's also a fun social experience which includes parties, volunteering and social rides with Hincapie cycling friends and Betty teammates! . Most memorable athletic memory: Completing my first half ironman! Endurance sport does not come easy for me and I doubted my ability to complete a 70.3 until I was halfway through my first one. Finishing kept me on a high for several weeks. I look forward to having an even stronger, faster race in my 3rd 70.3 in 2019! . Non-athletic hobby: Spending time with my family is a priority especially since both my parents are now gone. Family includes my 3 sisters and their families. I make time to spend with each of their kids regularly. Both of my kids are in college and I try to plan races in locations where they attend school so we can visit as well as race. Registration for the 9/15/19 Chicago North Shore Triathlon is open! #trinorthshore2019 💗🦋💗This is such a fun race (I did last year right after my Ironman 70.3 and I was somehow still smiling in every picture!) Mdot ... this one is temporary! Before I started my #ironman journey, this was going to be my reward, my way to show how proud I am of myself, for achieving my goal. I‘ve been hesitating.... putting the occasional temporary tattoo in different places, telling myself it’s to try out different spots; but really that’s just an excuse. I don’t feel like I have achieved a great defeat... my coach has done 27 IM and he doesn’t even have one... I am afraid that people might think it silly to do this, after all it’s just a brand, clever marketing maybe... but to me it means all the things I changed about myself and my life in the past two years, it holds early mornings, countless hours , pain, sweat and tears.
