Pthalocyanine blue is an essential pigment on the palette for Conservators of Paintings because it imitates Prussian blue (insta Nov 27, 2018) without the negative properties of that ubiquitous artists colour. Its one of those pigments that finds favour with Artist Painter and Conservator alike. Artist & Sculptor Alex J. Wood says “....the blue is Pthalo blue with titanium white ....The ‘Sputnik’ is diazirine purple. I love that purple. I think that and pthalo blue are my favourites’. (Paintings:- ‘Sputnik,The Palm & GPO’ ; ‘Kerwebaum’ aka Christmas tree on a pole). Phthalocyanine - easier (& lovelier) to pronounce than it looks ;))) is a synthetic 20th century pigment, it’s transparent with a very high tinting strength - a little goes a long, long way. Extensively used in the paint industry, printing inks & colouration of plastics & textiles. It combines the qualities of a beautiful blue with industrial economic practices - I guess....🤔?
‘Lunar buggy’ bronze with a verdigris patination by Alex J. Wood (insta Nov 7, 2018) - included it here because its ✨AMazing✨& as someone said to me this week ‘only real Sculptors do bronze!’ #pigments#paint#art#history#culture#blue#bronze#sculpture#sculptors#20century#paintings#colour#minerals#conservators#restorers#alexjwood#therepairshop#galleries
