Last week I briefly mentioned that embracing suffering is not only an applicable means to escape "the bad" but to attain "the good." This is neatly summed up in the old adage of, "good times beget weak men, weak men beget hard times, hard times beget strong men, strong men beget good times." There is profound wisdom in the observation that not all pain is to be avoided since it is by going through an uncomfortable process that we gain strength or skill.
This is also closely related to the Christian notion of #freedom . Yes, freedom from evil...but even more so, freedom for good. I am not free to engage in demanding physical activity if I have not first endured the suffering of exercise. I cannot produce structured creativity - an intricate piece of music or a gourmet meal - if I have not already subjected myself to the painful trial and error of learning in order to gain wisdom. By not allowing myself to rest too long in a state of comfort, and willingly, consistently choosing #discipline , I strive closer to that which I have identified as my ultimate good.
🦋 “There is an old saying: "That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger." I don't believe that. I think the things that try to kill you make you angry and sad. Strength comes from the good things: your family, your friends, the satisfaction of hard work. Those are the things that will keep you whole. Those are the things to hold onto when you are broken.” jt soa

In brightest day, in blackest night, No evil shall escape my sight. Let all who worship evil's might, Beware my power, Green Lantern's light!
After running two runs back to back this month, something I would have never thought I was capable of doing let alone being a runner period, I’d like to give some major thanks to some real life superhero’s whom have helped me draw some great inspiration from their story and journey! @colinobrady@davidgoggins this is only the beginning! #chicagorunner#shamrockshuffle#embracethesuck#greenlanterncosplay#runningman
You can be comfortable in live, or you can take the hard road to achievement.
Comfort is the enemy of progress, it tells us that we are fine right where we are. But that won’t get you to your goals. Besides, comfort isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Get uncomfortable! Live in discomfort, that’s where growth happens. It’s supposed to be challenging, to be scary, to push you past your limits. That’s called living, not just being alive.
Take the hard road. See where it takes you.
WHEN YOU THINK YOU’VE GIVEN EVERYTHING...THINK AGAIN.🔥💪
David Goggins’ preaches that when you feel you can’t go on... you’ve probably used only close to 40% of your true capacity. What is the secret then to unlocking this other 60%? All. Mental. Push your perceived limits and watch how far you can go.💪⚡️ #40percentrule#embracethesuck#canthurtme
“The one who falls and gets up is so much stronger than the one who never fails”... How many of us have “failed” at something in our lives 🙋🏼♀️ truth is, you didn’t fail if you took the opportunity to learn from what went wrong. Growth is sometimes painful and scary, but so very rewarding in the end. Instead of giving up or thinking you lack something, change your perspective, change your course of action, learn from your mistakes, try again and GROW 🌱

The following is another great short read by @johnballen416. Give him a follow if you haven’t already. We hope you enjoy! 🔥 #ADifferentBreed
100% of SEAL candidates believe they will graduate from the selection course and become SEALs...
But historically only 15% (plus or minus) will succeed.
For decades, people have been trying to identify the characteristics that separate this 15% from the other 85%...
And still no one really knows.
But having been a member of this elusive 15% I can tell you that while SEALs may come in many different shapes and sizes, they all come with a similar mindset when it comes to setting/achieving goals...
1. They expect to struggle; A goal is only a “goal” if it CHALLENGES you, otherwise it’s just a TASK. The struggle you endure to achieve your goal, will be the thing you are most proud of, not the end state itself. •
2. They take pride in their misery; There is huge satisfaction in being regarded by your peers as someone who can simply do HARD WORK. So tell your peers about your goal (for accountability), and then put your head down and get it done.
3. They know that failure IS an option; Goals require a PASS/FAIL criteria (and a timeline), otherwise it’s hard to see if you’ve accomplished anything at all. SEAL selection candidates often wind up using their fear of failing the selection course, as their primary motivation to graduate.
This mindset can be summarized with a line my friend and fellow SEAL @jasonkuhn255 has built a successful business around... #EmbraceTheSuck

I grew up playing volleyball so naturally leg days are my fav 🤘🏻
Never hold back. Never stop fighting. Never stop following your bliss. 🌈 It is in the darkest of days and darkest hours that we find our true strength. The best way to get through the battle? Directly through it. Battle on 👊🏼

If you’re not having fun then you probably shouldn’t be doing it! 😂 harsh reminder lately to just to love what I have been doing for myself and not to fit in a silly mold of what everyone else does! I have to remind myself I couldn’t even tie my own shoes a year before I started skating, I skate what I have access to, (my back yard) so my style is different than then any coast.. 🥴y’all I live in a country town and sometimes a glimpse of aliens 👽
If I don’t skate the way you skate than that’s great for the both of us... because I don’t want to be like everyone else 🤷🏻♀️ and it wouldn’t be fun for everyone to skate the same way!
I had a good time last night jamming out to 2014 hits 🤪🤣 I decided to embrace my flaws and just play around!
I do not own rights to this song! #bethebestyou #beyourownhero #iwantedapprovalbutifounditinmyself#embracethesuck#thankful#skate#skatemom#patin
