Another week 7 swim is in the books for the @myswimpro#myswimprochallenge and it included one whole 50 of butterfly. Total. 🤣🤣. Sets of freestyle 100s and pulls felt substantially easier without arm fatigue from IM sets. The 100 times seem about the same, so might need to look at speed work after this challenge is over?
Long @trainerroad ride and short recovery run planned for Saturday. Followed by pre-race sleep and the @letsrockcf Rivers Half Marathon on Sunday! And, if not destroyed after the race, I'll do the 3rd swim of week 7. And THEN be destroyed, just in time for a recovery day! 😊
I have been on a corticosteroid for my asthma for at least 12 years. A little over 6 months ago I opted to stop using it for a variety of reasons. One of the biggest being that I already have ostepenia, which is the precursor to osteoporosis. With menopause looming over me, I wanted to see what my body is capable of naturally. Between stopping that, then injuring myself at IMCHOO in September last year, and gaining some weight over the winter all of my workouts have been a struggle, but running has been the hardest. I keep trying to challenge myself, but I have really had to slow down a lot, which can be very humbling and frustrating at times.
Today after a 2,600 m swim with some speed intervals, I had one of the best hour z2 runs that I have had in a really long time. It felt almost effortless and it was pain free. I can be hard to take a negative situation and make it into a positive one, but so necessary when you struggle. That is also what helps you to become a stronger person #ironmantraining#racewithbase#IMMT#tribalchicks#gysd#BITracing
Fast forward 35 years later and I can’t live without it. Whether it’s training for a race, or just burning off some steam. There is something calming about jumping into a pool and going for a swim. Just ❤️
