(Sorry for the bad quality) About a hour into the hike today I came across a set of fresh mountain lion tracks. I told @trophybuck_fishfreak16 to keep his eye out because I knew one was close. We started up a canyon and Jordan says “cat”. This big ol cat was across the canyon moving away from us luckily! A hour later we saw another one that was even closer. Everywhere we walked we were walking on cougar tracks! We came home with three sheds and a experience of something that doesn’t happen very often. Good way to start the year!
Some things to consider if you are on the bench due to an injury! Water for hydration and movement of nutrients around the body. Increased protein intake for tissue repair. No protein doesn’t just help muscle recovery. Increase frequency of meals for an increase in the thermic effect of food. This increases metabolic rate therefore increasing tissue recovery and turnover. Sauna or cold therapy for hot and cold shock protein production for further tissue recovery. Last but not least and certainly most important rest. Nothing makes an injury take twice as long to heal than training through it. Certainly stay active and exercise in ways that don’t bother the injured area but don’t try to train that area until it is healed. Enjoy! #keephammering#injuries#recovery
“Chasin’ tail.” Even if that means you stepping into a big opening. Even if it’s in daylight. Even if you know it’s risky right in the middle of hunting season. Even if your brain is foggy and your vision is narrowed onto that tail, and that sweet-smelling tail alone. Even if you smell human scent in the woods. Even if your head may end up regally mounted on some guy’s wall. She’s worth it! Worth every chance you have to take! To a Whitetail Buck in rut, the end DEFINITELY justifies the means! 😍🤩🥰
Getting some reps in today, @bearcreekarchery was definitely a busy place today. Bear creek helped restring an old Ben Pearson recurve and help swap out bows. Our buddy @mtn.nate is gunna try out a compound this year so we are setting him up with a @mathewsinc halon 6. That will make for a good first bow!!
I hate running...
But oddly enough I had so much fun. For me, running is a challenge of mental strength more than physical. Pushing through the pain has taught me how much suffering I can endure, which has carried over into other aspects of my life. Next 5k in under 20 min 💪🏼
Snapped a few pix on the way home today from an unplanned extended stay in Yuma! Such great contrast....open desert, saguaro cactus 🌵 and rugged snow capped rock vistas. Appreciate every day! Such a gorgeous state!
Race photos are notorious for being terrible. But do YOURS make your legs look 2 different sizes?? Race 2/12 for 2019 is tomorrow. Cheers to PRs! (And to asymmetrical lean and muscular quads!) @wahoorun
Where’s your focus... on the target or on the pin?
Some archers find that excessively looking at the spot you’re aiming at can cause target panic because your brain will only allow you to release the arrow when it can see the spot, meaning your pin isn’t on it. Other archers keep laser focus on the target and allow the pin to hover over the spot. Everybody is different, find what works for you.
