This is what running a business from home looks like // In response to @oiselle_sally ‘s challenge last week to show “this is what ______ looks like” , I waited to post this because I knew this week would bring good news. Today I officially opened a business bank account. After 3 failed attempts and trips to the bank, I finally walked out with a small business account opened in the name of the LLC I began launching in August (while training for NYC Marathon and planning a wedding!). My desk is a mess, which also means my living room is a mess since I have a home office. My trash can is overflowing because I don’t have janitorial services. I have photos on a shelf behind me, race bibs and medals in front of me, signed basket- and baseballs next to me. A daily reminder of my mission to prove that you don’t have to fit into one box. You can be taken seriously as a businesswoman who loves fashion and beauty, while also balancing marathon training, taking breaks to take care of my dog and burning the midnight oil managing strategy for small local businesses. So today, in honor of beautiful 65 degree temps and the official start of my small business journey, I’m celebrating, naturally, by spending my lunch break with a run. Because while the challenge of working for yourself is endless, the most beautiful part is that YOU get to decide. Any sign of a headache I had before immediately went and I felt strong throughout. Keeping the pace sensible and never pushing too hard. Great day of training indeed 💪🏻
