“Isn’t it weird that we drive hours and hike in a snowstorm when it’s really all just to have a good conversation?” A dialogue between @dylandubuque and I while hiking along the PCT in Laguna Recreation Area in the middle of a winter storm warning. Later that day on the drive home I was able to partake in the monthly check in call all the 2017-2018 regional directors participate in.
Moments like yesterday cause me to pause and reflect on the effort and importance that goes into keeping up a healthy, productive relationship. I have improved a lot recently and spending two years 1,000s of miles from loved ones has made me prioritize being better at it.
I had this epiphany while speaking to an undergraduate who asked - quite dumbfounded that I’m working for a fraternity - “So SigEp creates an experience based on personal development and healthy relationships? And it’s not centered around alcohol? Whoa, that’s awesome.” Your damn right Denislav, and I’m thankful for it everyday. I’m calling my shot that you’ll officially be part of building this experience at Cal Poly Pomona by the end of next week. 😏
Now enjoy snowy photos from a mountain I miss dearly in Washington that’s def not where I was yesterday. 😎
PCT, Laguna Recreation Area
It’s just a little trickle of water coming down the falls but the pool at the bottom was knee high. We watched an older man fall in while he was trying to get out of the canyon which made me think I should really bring a change of clothes next time 🤔 I don’t know how we’ve managed climbing through the crevices 3 times (once in the dark) and made it out dry every time. #optoutside#adventurewithkids#kidsinnature#arizona_hiking
Choose happiness. Choose the kind of love that feel right, the kind of love that makes you understand why it didn’t work out with anyone else.
Choose the kind of life that makes you so damn happy you kept fighting for the things you wanted, for the way in which your heart asked you to believe in more.
Choose yourself unapologetically, without guilt—the way you choose others. Show up for yourself.
Give yourself permission to hope, to care, to trust in the things you deeply crave from life.
Choose letting go.
Choose forgiveness, choose to turn your losses into lessons.
Choose to move forward, into the kind of story that fulfills you, into the kind of person that holds your heart just as carefully as you hold theirs, into the kind of happiness that exists because you chose to fight for it, and never stop fighting for it. Never stop.

⛷🧡Love this boy @logan.coops_9 because he always makes me smile and helps me see life through his goggles. Found him hanging out just like this amongst the snowy trees chillaxing. While some hate being cold and do all they can to keep from falling and touching the snow (ahem me) others intentionally sit in it, don’t let the cold steal their joy, and embrace the natural beauty of the elements. I love his joy-filled perspective, full of fun and adventure because it makes me want to take a seat next to him. 😛❄️🌲 #ski#seizetheday#carpediem#snow#skiing#chilling#livelifetothefullest#optoutside#joy
I miss the nose bleeds, dry eyes, cracked skin. I miss the thin, cool air. I miss the winding roads with no guard rails. I miss the nauseating drops into the deep pine-laden valleys. I miss my car groaning up the steep hills, the mountains capped with snow, even in June while the rest of the state was on fire. I even miss the view of the wildfire blazing through the forest at night, haunting and humbling. I miss the opportunity to be a small, seemingly insignificant dot of a being surrounded by such wondrous natural magnamity.
one of my favorite projects here at Reimers! Thank you @bearandpup and @monaatthesummit for sharing y'all's beloved proj with me. This climb is at the very end of North Shore in Awesome Roof called Pay at the Pump 5.12d. If I couldn't get anymore detailed, this climb is known for its increasing difficulty with each permadraw and hella pumping you out. This is the farthest, and best burns I've had in it so far; made it to the first three in the roof and took a rest to finish out on the fifth permadraw. Also, please ignore how long it took me in that last clip looool, sometimes gates don't want to open. Thanks @bearandpup for the catch! And special thanks to @elcfaust for bringing Mark, the man behind the camera (thanks Mark, I love this video!).

Shoutout to the guy in the white car coming the opposite direction from Ojai- you gave me the finger as hard as I’ve ever gotten it in my life. #optoutside

“Take long walks in stormy weather or through deep snows in the fields and woods, if you would keep your spirits up. Deal with brute nature. Be cold and hungry and weary.” -Henry David Thoreau in his journal on 25 December 1856
Filled with warm Oregon Coast memories. Time to start planning my next adventure ☺️

Customized coconut water bottle while we travelled the Rockies! @obrigado_usa was the best way to stay hydrated while skiing, snowshoeing and skating. Water is good but coconut water is where it’s at 👌🏼
