Well I feel like I know Regents Park REALLY well now! 12 laps and 35 miles in the bag 💪 my longest cycle yet and it felt pretty good! ...still need to work on finding a more interesting route though as the laps get a bit repetitive after a while! 🚴♀️..........................................................................🚴♀️ #ridethenight#ukcyclechat#cyclelikeagirl#prudentialridelondon#cyclistsofinstagram
It’s hard to explain, but when you put yourself out there the universe seems to give back. Today I’ve met @ride._.clean (literally at the back of my house) as I walked home from #parkrun and brunch at @wearethedynamo. Katy was amazing, she had a look at Penny (my good old bike as you see in this pic from September 2012) and advised me on how to get her back on the road. Penny got me out of the house at a time in my life when just the thought was enough to kick my anxiety. Knowing I could cycle back to safety in no time was the assurance I needed to feel the fear and do it anyway. Chatting with Katy & Papiya today reminded me of those days. Tomorrow I’m running the Craft Half marathon at this very same Wimbledon Common of 7 years ago. I guess things happen for a reason 😊🚴🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️ #runnerslife#runningformentalhealth#prudentialridelondon#ridelondon#cycling#runners
Hi All, I am hoping to complete the #prudentialridelondon in August this year. I am cycling for a charity in honour of my mother in law. Please read my story and donate if you can ! Link on my profile!
Congratulations to all the lucky Rouleurs who got in through the ballot! 🚴♀️🙏🏆
Dont give up hope if you didnt get in.
We will be entering the team ballot, and we always get offers to ride for charities so all is not lost! 😀
So I guess I’ll have to get a bike 🤷🏻♀️ I’ve been repeating daily my “2019 is a good year” mantra and I can’t fault it. I’m not a cyclist. The thought of 100 miles on a bike makes me wanna puke. But so did the idea of a 10K race this time 3 years ago. But with @carolgegan’s support I went and I did it on 31st July 2016... So yes, bring on the challenge on August 4th! 💪🏻🚴🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️
My first non running #medalmonday 🚴🏽♀️ I still can’t believe what I achieved yesterday. The conditions were awful, I was a bag of nerves, but at the same time I was also the bravest I’ve ever been 💪🏼
I spent much of my late childhood and the entirety of my teenage years living a life where I wasn’t really living. I was sedentary, I lacked any real confidence, I didn’t really like myself at all and I accepted the situation rather than trying to change it. In my twenties I vowed to make these much needed changes. I surrounded myself with good people, I became active, I tried new things. I found running, it proved to me I was strong, resilient and capable of achieving anything I set my mind to. I started to apply this to my personal life. I got my doctorate, I moved miles to the other end of the country, I changed my job, I accepted who I am ❤️
But this year I got curious, if I could run a marathon, what else could I do? I got a ballot place for @ridelondon and decided to go for it. This was totally out of my comfort zone as I had never ridden a road bike 🚴🏽♀️ part of me didn’t quite believe I could do it, but I decided to give it my best shot anyway 💪🏼
So for me 2018 is about using all my ten gears and finding out more about who I am and what I am capable of. My niece was born this year and I want to show her a world where there is no glass ceiling, where women can achieve anything. So what is next this year? I’m travelling to Majorca to run my first international half marathon, I also have Dublin Marathon in October. But next up I’m pushing that comfort zone once again and tackling the @swimserpentine 2 mile swim as I attempt to conquer the London Classics 🏅
