Just chill and read on your #restdaybrags
Just chill and read on your #restday
If you like reading and haven’t read about J Krishnamurthy (one of the One of the Greatest Philosophers of the 20th Century) I would definitely recommend it to give it a go.
I am currently reading his book “on fear” , very thought-Provoking. .
Today is a #selfcare day, which means a restful morning, time with a book, maybe some gentle yoga, a solo cinema trip and some yummy food.
Currently obsessed with this book by @hanyayanagihara, anyone else read it?
Had a step free day yesterday... Well, not so much step free as fitbit free. Between my knackered ankle and new allergic reaction to the fitbit, it seemed like a good day to take some time out. Looks like today will be another day off!
Hot #chocolate, day off, the #selflove saga continues ❤️ Whilst Wednesdays are my recipe development days, I decided to make today #restday.
Why is rest and switching off so crucial to our wellbeing? And most importantly, why do we find it so difficult to do this.
Long story short, because of the glamorisation of ‘always busy, always on’, hustling every day 💪🏻 If I learned anything from my anxiety-ridden times is that ‘always on’ is what triggers it.
So today I am resting. I am spending quality time with myself. Sleep a little more, have a coffee at my local cafe, breath, look at the sky more and around me, look at my phone less, walk, meditate, people watch, cook, read, simply doing whatever I want in the moment. 🙏
If you want to make this delicious #vegan hot choc, here’s how:
1 cup hot coconut or almond milk
1 and 1/2 tbsp high-quality cocoa
1 tbsp grated chocolate of your choice
1-2 tsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla paste
Mix in a blender for fluffiness 🍫
i'm feeling a lot better today but i still think i need to rest before picking up another workout program. the fever and sleep paralysis are gone but the cough lingers. i'm back at it tomorrow morning! it had my first day of class yesterday and i'm feeling kinda cute today. hope everyone has a good wednesday!
For 24 years I've lived with soft tissue damage in my neck, upper back and lower back which is one of my reasons WHY I train to keep a strong back. In the early years I spent many days in tears lying on the floor trying to get some relief in my lower back. It was probably the worst of my pain caused by the accident. I still get migraines sometimes from pain in my neck by virtue of my job spending 8+ hours a day in front of a computer. But now that I regularly see a chiro I rarely get pain in my lower back. So when it started to niggle this week I needed to listen. My chiro strapped it last night and I took a rest day today just going to the gym to stretch and foam roll for half an hour. Hopefully it will be ok to deadlift tomorrow but I will stop at the first sign of any pain. It should be ok to do everything else on the program tomorrow so will do what I can.

Are you feeling tired a lot?
Feeling stiff and sore for longer than usual after your workouts?
Maybe your progress has slowed down in the gym and you're getting any stronger over the past couple of weeks
Too often we look at where we want to be in relation to our fitness goals instead of looking at where we are and where we have come from
If you have been training hard for a couple of months and your progress has slowed down to the point you're not seeing any increases in strength etc, it might be time to look at how often you are resting and consider giving yourself a full rest week
There is no point in running yourself into the ground by training hard and not giving yourself any time to recover.
Rest days and also a rest week are just as important to training and overall results
Rest days/Weeks can help
- Rebuild and repair muscle
- Replenish Fluid and Energy stores
- Build Strength
- Avoid mental Burnout
These are just a few benefits from taking a rest day or a full week
You should look to have 2 Rest days during the week and schedule a full week off after an 8-10 Week Training Program
This doesn't mean you sit on the couch for the week.
Go for a few walks during the week
Stretch during the time you would normally be in the gym
Go for a swim etc
You can still be active during a rest week but it just means you're stepping away from your normal routine
Guten Morgen #Fitfam,
☺️ #monday#restday#newweeknewgoals#sunnyday
Took 4 days off the gym for some much needed rest. Didn’t realize how much I was pushing it until I stood up from my chair & had an extremely painful muscle spasm and strained my back. Sometimes back injuries can come at the most random time doing something as simple as coughing, or in my case, getting out of a chair 🤷🏻♀️that’s what happens when there’s too much stress on the muscles + over exertion. So I’ll be taking it really easy this week 💆🏻♀️
