What's your hydration strategy? Dehydration is far more of a common cause of reduced performance than a lack of fuelling, but strangely there's far less science or advice on how to properly hydrate for a run or ride. .
Without a straight answer as to how much and what type of liquid to drink, there are a few things you can do to help prevent the chances of dehydration when exercising: .
1) drink something with salt in it, whether it's Active Root or dropping in a small amount (mg!) of salt into your juice.
2) Stay hydrated pre-race. This means regularly drinking the day before and not just on race day.
3) And further to the above point, stay away from diuretic drinks such as alcohol and coffee, particularly the day before. Of course, moderate amounts are ok, but you don't want to be 'hydrating' yourself with espresso when it's 25 degrees! .
