Ran the beach tonight. Normally I run on the sidewalk but that white sand was calling my name. I got a few words of wisdom from my buddy David Ricci. Davey says he has been watching the runners from our deck and they run on the hard pan where the waves have just gone over the sand. Very wise so I followed his sage advice. What he didn’t mention was the sand castle and motes plus just large holes that try to swallow you up. In the end I survived my 3 mile run but my legs are going to feel it from the difference in effort needed to run in sand. #running#triathlon#runbikeswim#swimbikerun#exercise#beach#motivation
Note to self: definitely pack spare tubes for the long rides, especially when your wife is away. Big burst on the way home, had to ring the oul fella for a lift.
Lessons learned, fail to prepare and all that.
#tbt my first...a month down the line, feeling so much stronger and wiser. Can’t wait for the next one up! #canaw#runbikeswim

Reshuffling that swim session before the week hits and I find another excuse not to do it! 🤫 Admittedly, feeling a lot better in the water. Won’t go as far as to call it feeling “good” but it definitely feels a little less like drowning 🙌🏽
When @lesleydoestri tells you to stop everything you’re doing to get in some hip stretches and post a selfie to prove it, you get it done. Immediately following the hip stretches you get a photo from the husband who’s watching you from work and laughing his ass off.
Simple science. Intake < Output. As athletes this is hard because we are hungry often and we are more likely to experience pitfalls in the kitchen rather than in training. 🤷♀️ .
If you’re trying to lose weight or lean up, you must intake less than you output. It’s that simple. That’s it. ✅ That doesn’t mean popular diets don’t work, but most aren’t sustainable and often most aren’t very healthy. 🍽 .
What you decide to put in your body is up to you, thought a 1200 calorie cookie diet is probably not wise since the type of calories you intake does have an effect on metabolic efficiency (a higher protein diet is correlated with enhanced metabolic rate, which aids with muscularity and fat loss). 🎉 But if you make a poor decision, know that it’s just that. It’s not about what you ate, it really boils down to how much you eat. So stop obsessing. Start living. And eat the carbs!!! .
**(Sidenote: I’m not saying lower your body’s caloric intake to an unhealthy amount. What I am saying is if you are at a plateau and you do not have a medical condition, your caloric intake may need examining. It would be wise to consult with a nutritionist to find out your resting metabolic rate and your dietary needs). 🤔
Lift session and swim on deck today! 💪🏼🏊♀️
What’s your biggest struggle with nutrition???
