I survived! This race, man. When signed up, we had figured “Oh Zion, that’s 2 hours from Vegas, it won’t be that cold.” Well, record breaking weather in the area. Zion Park got more snow than it ever has.
The race was 6 degrees to start, warming up to a balmy 21 at the finish, with a headwind the whole way.
1:55:45, not a PR, but given the circumstances, I’m happy about it. And the views were unbeatable - chasing snow covered mountains all the way as the sun rose.
I was also 23 seconds off of placing (5th) for my age group, which is a little maddening, especially since I recognized the girl’s name as the girl who finished just ahead of me. But also heartening, since I’ve never come close to placing in anything, ever. 139th place in all, out of 2200 people who started.
And now, on to 3 days of hiking!
CALL IT WHAT YOU WANT
Call me crazy, call me dedicated, call me what you want - but tomorrow morning I’m going to tackle my fourth full marathon.
GOAL TIME: To be finished shortly after the fourth loop of the @taylorswift Reputation album, which would put me under 4 hours. How do I know this? Because this is what I ran to during my third marathon and the repetitiveness of it seemed to help me mentally keep track of where I needed to be.
I’m nervous, I’m excited but most of all I’m ready for the @bucc_ees stop post-marathon. Here’s to hopefully a fun race and a new PR!
7.33 hot + sweaty kilometres with @rupaulofficial! I skipped my run yesterday because of my cold + thought I wasn’t going to get it in again today but I was feeling pretty goof after dinner. Hopefully I sweated the last of this cold out.
🎶It’s been a while🎶... since I’ve ran 5 miles on the #treadmill but we had a pretty heavy snow fall last night (record for largest 1-day snowfall for Denver in almost 3 years ❄️) so I knew the roads were not gonna be ready and I wanted to run 5 miles so I kept myself entertained watching @netflix and got it done. I only wish I had tried watching TV while on the treadmill earlier. I would’ve enjoyed treadmill runs just a tiny bit more 😝
Run 94✔️🏃🏻♀️😊 #RunStreak#HappySaturday#BeHappy#KeepSmiling#LifeIsBeautiful
I had such a bad experience doing my C25K run the other day, I decided to repeat it in the hopes that it was a fluke. Happy to report: it was! 🙌🏼 Although it didn't feel "awesome" I'll settle for "awesome in comparison." 😏 Whew. I'm feeling hopeful that I WILL, eventually, get my running mojo back. I'm willing to be patient because I'm determined for 2019 to be my year of #injuryfreerunning. 😁💪🏼 Today was upper body strength training too. I went to "the other" Planet Fitness. I like their treadmills better than my usual PF but I'm not so crazy about their weight machines. Odd that they're so different. 🤔

So fun meeting up with these fabulous ladies for 5 miles downtown! Love that Instagram connected us and helps expand the running community!
First run back today after taking a week of rest! Short jaunt to our local hot springs with @reel_lifemike and I couldn’t t be happier.🤗 I am a big fan of taking time off in between training cycles. I’ve had my handful of seasons where I would only take a few days off and it goes without saying that each time I did that my capability to run my fastest was very difficult. Not only did my legs lose steam, but my brain and mind were fried before reaching the goal race of that season. With this I’ve learned I do really well with a full week off physically and mentally.
Learn what works for you when it comes to recovery, I personally think it’s the key to successful training. Next up is dependent on me making a decision between 2 projects, though I’m leaning towards an OTQ attempt. 💃🏻😊🤞🏼🏃🏻♀️ #backatit#sb9trails#recovery
5 treadmill miles early this morning and then ARM workout this afternoon. I've been a little discouraged because I haven't been seeing much growth in my arms but today I'm noticing some definition starting to show so I'm quite excited 😊. Muscle building is new to me and I'm still stumbling through the unknown each day but when I see progress them I know I must be doing something right 😀
Pretty sure I took this picture right around the exact moment my thighs went numb. I don’t think I’ve ever been this cold on a run. This Florida girl’s body does not agree with freezing rain 😅

Today’s workout was a challenge.
Something that months ago I would have feared and procrastinated until the end of time. And I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a little fear and doubt when I started today’s long run.
I’ve been trying to have a more positive mindset to my running. Run the mile you’re in. Run the pace that’s set for you. Run in the moment. Believe in yourself.
During the workout, I kept thinking “how will I ever go faster today”. I was doubting myself and fearing my abilities but I know that my coach is giving me paces to continually challenge me, not to break me.
While I may have been slightly off my prescribed paces, the effort was exactly where it needed to be.
Today, I was challenged, not broken. Sometimes all it takes is a little belief in yourself!
Hitting the trails is something we love to do. Hiking and getting away from the reality of the world is such an amazing thing. We are fortunate enough to be surrounded by trails and hills where we live so we can escape and take some time to recenter and see the beauty in life and nature. If you feel down or ever need a pick me up try hitting a trail, it might be just what your mind, body and soul needs.
Bom dia, internauuuutas!!!
🇺🇸Who never started the weekend with this expectation?
I don’t any race this weekend, but only in 23 days the @nyrr. So until there, I’ll be really anxious to travel and have fun with my family, brother and friends.
▫️Did you already prepare everything for the weekend?
Thanks God, it’s FRIDAYYYY!!
Good morning! #marathontraining#halfmarathontraining#minivacation
This! THIS is the run I’ve been waiting for. The one that wasn’t forced. That just felt normal as I ticked away the miles. (Shoutout to podcasts from @tinamuir88 & @rambling_runner for keeping me entertained.) It wasn’t anything groundbreaking, but I felt like I was in control the whole time. My heart rate was low and my pace was steady. I was just getting it done, as if this was something that I regularly do.
And then at mile 13.3, I turned onto a clear running path and felt like I could kick it in. So I switched gears and ran 6:37 pace for the rest of that mile, and then clocked in a 6:32 for mile 15. I haven’t even attempted a fast-finish long run in ages, so being able to do this yesterday was huge!
It’s been a little more than 4 months since that semi truck ran me off the road and took away my fall Ironman. And it’s been a little more than 2 months since I started running consistently post-crash. I’m not “there” yet, but this was a good reminder that no matter how many times you have to start over (and I’ve had more than my fair share of resets the past couple years!) — you can always build back. 💛
Longest run ever | 19.7 miles. 5200 ft of elevation. And it feels like I’m on top of the world. It also feels like my legs will never forgive me, but I like it. 📸: @evanbradford7#miletomountains

Things you can’t see in this picture: my face caked with salt and how I’m thinking about the gelato I’m going to eat tonight😋 Another 18 miler with a tempo in the middle✅ Hit all my paces today even with almost 500 ft of gain🙌🏼 I’m trusting that not only the hard work I’m putting in but the fact that I live in very hilly areas will benefit me greatly come race day⛰🏃🏼♀️Ready for another big week of building! #MyStrongestSelf

Took Fred out on a date for Love your pet day. He didn’t seem fussed. Just said that’s what we normally do. Run through the woods and you love me a little bit. He’s right 🤷🏼♀️😂
A lovely (🤔) strength session, where I am discovering more and more just how weak I am 🙈 followed by some easy trail miles. Peaceful miles, much needed in the chaos that is half term! .
Happy humpday you lovely lot! We’re getting there! 🙌🏼
