What?! I’m in shorts and short sleeves?! Last weekend it was freezing cold and I ran in the rain!! I love the sunshine!!☀️I took it slow and just ran at a comfortable pace because tomorrow I will be doing my long run of 7 maybe 8 miles! Happy Friday and happy weeks everyone!
Between work, running, riding, and wearing the domesticated hats of mommy, housekeeper, etc. I have leafed through 300+ pages of leisure reading in 2 days (this book and another). How (esp with my job aka reading technical stuff all day)? I’ve stopped checking in on social media so much. If you haven’t seen me like your posts or make comments, it’s not bc I don’t care. Most of those I follow are athletes, more often runners and mother runners, who inspire me, and I do care! I’ll still be around, and comment but more episodically. I’m sorry to be absent - but I feel more present tuning in to myself: running, riding and reading in my limited free time outside of squishing my littles. Anyway, if you’re looking for a book that’ll challenge your emotional stoicism, pick up Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. You’re welcome. Don’t blame the tears on me. #runnergirl#lovestoread#selflove#selfcare
Running to cross that Friday finish line like
Last weekend was a 18 mile run and next weekend is a 20miler, but THIS WEEKEND I only have a couple short runs 🙌🙌
Have plans with friends and a grant to write this weekend 😱, so the break from running is much appreciated.
Now I just have to get motivated to get some writing done! ✏️📓💻
Runs are better with a view like this 🙂
Spending the weekend in Colorado visiting some family, and I couldn't be more in love with the area. The outdoor life is everything I've ever dreamed it would be ⛰
Excited to tackle some more trails over the next few days 🙌🏼
Hope everyone has a fantastic Friday!
Afternoon run. Short and sweet to shake out the professional development day. Had yo cut it short because my knee starting to twinge a bit. So tomorrow will be a rest day 😝
Another sleep in (whoops- 4 alarms though) but we made it in time for the sunrise! 8k today, cadence training more than anything. I wasn’t paying too much attention to pace but aimed for around 6 min kms... #runstreak day 47🏃🏼♀️
This was the tale of two runs. I felt great until about mile 4.5. Then, my energy tanked. Bad timing as I had nothing but hills until I made it home. Probably should’ve had that gel I brought with me at mile 3. Or maybe I shouldn’t have gone out as fast as I did given the run I had yesterday. But, it was 64F when I started. How could I resist going a decent pace?
On an unrelated note, I’m super excited to explore brand new running routes in CT and NYC. I’m already signed up for a bunch of races in April and May. So, Constitution State, watch out!
Running has always been my favorite way to see a new place and always will be. It gives my mind and eyes time to take everything in about the experience. Quietly, individually, mindfully. I can connect with the small alley ways, the sunrises, sunsets, the locals hustling around their daily lives....
Very grateful for my mind and body that allows me to enjoy this moving meditation🖤
I met one of my best friends at McDonalds this morning. We talked for 2 hours while the kids all ran around. That friend out of all my tribe has known me longest & is the one who can call me out the most. I told her about steps of obedience taken lately that were hard and she could speak life into WHY they were so hard because she knows me so well.
I texted another couple of my best friends a few nights ago about a post I was having trouble with. I had overthought it to the point of anxiety about hitting publish. Both friends know I struggle with overanalyzing so they helped me peel back layers in different ways until we figured out what I was really hung up on.
And this friend pictured runs all over town with me. She runs faster and is better at commitment than me so she pushes me harder than anyone to stop holding myself back. She spends the most time listening to me in the runs so she’s heard all my ideas and emotions and let me verbally process all the thing.
These people and a handful of others get to speak into my life. They get to call me out. They have a permanent invitation to do so. They know me. They love me. I can trust them.
In my past I’ve let other voices have room in my head and my heart that didn’t belong. People who didn’t really know me or love me got a say in who I was. They were wrong, but when someone says something wrong with a lot of conviction and confidence it will get in your head.
There’s also the scrolling. Strangers who mean well and to motivate us who type “do this or you’re not enough!” And I’ve let them in my head too.
God has showed me this year more than ever to keep my filter strong. To listen to reproof from my sisters, mom, husband, dearest friends and then to test everything else against Him and His Word.
I share this because...
1️⃣ I hope you have a tribe you can turn to, who love you & who aren’t afraid to speak truth into your life when you need it.
2️⃣ When someone or something you read confronts you in ways they have no right to and they do not know you I hope you can let that go.
Bitterness and holding on to hurt can damage our souls so much. Trust me. If you’re holding onto hurt you can be free!
You guys - this getting strong thing is really working!! We haven’t been running 🏃🏻♀️ 🐾 bc well (A) it’s to dang cold 🥶 & I’m in hibernation and (B) why run when my 20 min home workout is giving me amazing results?! .
But Coach the doodle puppy likes to run so since today was like in the 60’s I took him on a run. I TOTALLY thought I was going to suck wind & be slow bc I haven’t been running BUT...it was the total opposite! I felt like a superhero & my legs felt so strong & were full of energy!! I swear this 20 min virtual workout has made me the strongest I’ve ever been in my 47 years of life!! .
Good news is I’m going to repeat this entire program & want 10 people to join me!! Who is ready to be your strongest, leanest, healthiest self?? .
And please don’t tell me you are too busy to find 20 min! Oh and if you think you can’t afford it, wrong again!
My favorite thing about winter? When it’s over. Looking forward to hitting the trail when Mother Nature eases up on us a bit-this girl isn’t a fan of running outside in the ice and snow. Until then I’ll make the most of playing in it with my little sidekick❄️ 5k on the treadmill this morning followed by 30 mins of yoga.

How’d you meet YOUR running partner?!?
I blame the sunshine!🌞🙌 I wasn’t supposed to run for 7 days after ALQ... but when it’s 65 and sunny in February?!?!🤷♀️ Recovery is so important, especially after such a long race, but I. JUST. COULDN’T pass up this gorgeous day!!!😍 PLUS... it’s been 6 days... which is almost 7 days... right?🤔😁 Keeping my runs short for the next week or two will be key, but when it’s beautiful out?! Ya just gotta run🏃♀️😊 Happy Friday guys!!! I hope you have an amazing weekend!!!🎉💃💜

Happy Friday!! 🎉 I’m soooo excited because I’m officially 1 week out from my 50k🏃🏼♀️, and 8 days out from our Bahamas trip! 👙☀️This girl needs some sand and sunshine...and a shiny new race medal. ✨With that being said, I’ve also been very lucky this week getting my runs in during breaks in our crazy rainstorms. I only have had to get wet once this week, and it’s basically rained non-stop all week. I’m going to the women’s conference at church tonight and tomorrow- I look forward to it every year! I usually show up Friday night feeling blah and always leave Saturday afternoon feeling 🎉🙌🏼🙏🏼. Who else has fun long weekend plans?! 🙋🏼♀️ #50ktraining#ultratraining

Happy late Valentines Day!!💓💕
I see Valentine’s Day as a day to celebrate the people and things I love most!!❤️ That includes running!!🏃🏼♀️ Yesterdays Valentines Day practice was 2 mile warm up with 12x100m strides and 4x1200m at around 5:45 pace!! Then finished with a mile cool down👊🏼 Took it as focusing on form and keeping a steady pace instead of going for time! Looking forward to competition season💪🏼🏃🏼♀️
Krachttraining nummer 2 van deze week 🎉 Met trillende beentjes het weekend in 👅 fijn weekend! #friyay

Switch it up. Have fun. Create memories (and maybe it’s not even running but just spend time in nature). As memories are experiences and experiences are what life is all about 😊🙌
