“Sometimes you have to push yourself, and it can be uncomfortable. You will want to quit. But if you find your edge and embrace the discomfort even for a little bit, you’ll find a new level of fitness, skill, and knowledge. And there’s no better feeling than growth.” - Roisin McGettigan-Dumas
60 over unders on the trainer today...3 sets of 20 with no rest in between, coupled with a race for a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes. I also learned a valuable lesson to double check the course before starting a workout...1,800 feet of climbing during the over unders 🙃 Started to doubt myself and then I remembered the end goal: Mont-Tremblant 70.3. Today’s discomfort is setting me up to succeed tomorrow, next week, next month and ultimately on race day.
Third day of proper training and already some solid sessions in the bank 💪🏽 4500m at the pool: few 50s fast + strenght work with toys (pb, paddle band) then afternoon ride and 3x15' TT 💨 so far, so good! Until the first 💣 you never know when it hits you🤙🏽😂 #trilife
Happy Valentine's Day to the only girl i love! You mean the world to me! In this photo there are two things that I love, one of them have stuck with me through thick and thin and the other is gone.. One can never ever be replaced, thank you Carmen!
A little update from what happened last week.. I have lost many opportunities since the accident.. opportunity to spend Chinese New Years with my family, relatives, friends, clients and many more. Emotional cries instead of laughters of joy, visiting houses, missing all the wonderful Chinese New Year cookies and Bak Kwa! Spending Valentine's with Carmen.
But through these losses I have gained so much more, it was an important lesson that I've learned through the hardway. A family's love is the greatest gift of all. And my mother showed me love one could never imagined. Throughout the accident, my mother was there for me, when I called her that I was hit by a motorcycle, she took the trouble and went to collect my bicycle from the Latar authorities, to spending countless day with me at the hospital day and night. My brother and father took turns to look after me with my mother. It was really hard at the hospital, constant pain throughout the day, I wasn't even capable of having my own meals because I was told to lie on the bed and not sit up. Carmen would drop by too and try her best to come during meal times to make sure I get fed or fat 😜
Then came my wonderful friends lightened up my spirits throughout your visits, there were too many of you all to name one by one but I'll just categorise you all in groups, my dear high school/primary school friends, my cycling family from PCC, Magnum and TriDorphins!
Through this period of time I've learned that "no man is an island". I've always preferred to train solo and do things on my own but through this period of time if I am all by myself, it would really be very depressing! I would love to take thus opportunity to thank each and everyone bof you all for being there with me! When I fully recover I'll be asking each and everyone of you all out for a celebration! Thanks again guys!! Spread the love, Happy Valentines day! ❤️

Kona long winded blog avoidance post 2. On a whole the ride seemed to go quite well at Kona. After Cairns where I simply over frothed and surged a lot more than was necessary we decided to target a lower average heart rate. Ticked that box nicely- 10bpm lower. I drank my target amount of @sosrehydrate and consumed my old faithful yet simple fuel source without issue. The major goal of the bike was to set myself up for a good marathon, from an energy output standout I think I did that well. If I had run how I mistakingly anticipated from training then I was off the bike in a position to push for a top 5 with a great run and a top 10 with a solid run. Like for many athletes, reality and Madame Pele had other plans mainly involving breaking hearts and crushing dreams. Potential mistakes that may have contributed to smashed quads sensation on run- went to 165mm cranks 10 days out as BB for my rare 160mm cranks needed replacing and was hard to find a replacement in a hurry. It wouldn’t be a championship race if i didn’t change something on my bike close to race day. Also perhaps cadence was a little low to allow my quads to cope with my run tech..Marathon musings coming. I really enjoyed the unusual conditions. Crazy fast roads when you take away the typical Hawaii wind. @trekbikes#SpeedKonacept#SpeedConcept@ridebontrager XXX 6 tubeless wheels, @rideshimano Dura Ace Components, @oakley Flight Jacket sunnies, @santini_triathlon apparel.
