Getting it done. BATWoman @d_audino is on a grad school trip to Germany this week. Not only did she take advantage of her 5-hour layover in Chicago to find the airport gym for a treadmill progressive run and a tech swim in their 12-meter pool, she talked her way into the Olympic pool in Munich for free to breeze through a jet-lagged pace work effort swim. Final and (most fun) race of the year! Major PR, locked in a slot to worlds, and top 10 finish. It was a fight to the end of this season, but finishing like this made it worth it. Out on the course we were feeding off of each other’s energy - trading high fives with other @steelheadpdx friends and pushing ourselves to go harder knowing we were accountable to one another.• • The water was calm and a comfortable 71 degrees. Out on the bike we worked the rolling hills - using the strength we have been building on recent climbs. Sometimes the end of a long ride our minds can be consumed by the reward at the end - maybe it's some ice cream or a rice bowl or a warm shower. This weekend for @peteyapples, while climbing over 10,000 feet in the 95 degree heat, it was definitely fountain hopping! “I am so psyched to finally race!” blurted out our youngest BATWoman at team strength on Monday night. Rachael @raschy has kept her powder dry all spring as she finished work and transitioned to PA school but now she is ready to rumble!
