How to Deal with a S%#@&! day!!
Today......was one of those days.
Started out with a really bad sleep, followed by some disappointing news. Then topped off with being hit by a car .....while i was parked! I'm fine......my car will need some love....and i have been up since midnight tonight not sleeping again and thinking about my shitty day...lol!!
So....I thought i would get up and work on changing my perspective.
So, I got up (at midnight) and thought i would treat myself. Seeing as I am trying to keep my fitness in check, I thought having something crappy would NOT make me feel better in the long run...short term ...yes.....but not after, so I am having a nice cup of coffee and a protein bar(chocolate!)
Then....I sent a text to a friend who i haven't messaged in awhile. Do good-Feel good. By doing this, it not only helps me feel a little better by reaching out, but it is always nice to receive a message too. ツ
Then, I read a Chapter (just one) of a feel good book that is always my Go-to in many circumstances.
Thought about doing a workout, but...quite frankly..i'm just too darn tired.
Then I thought about the "Well, at least I..." train. And that is when i really started to feel better about today. It helps to write down all the good things about it!
ie: Well, At least I wasn't hurt. At least, the person who hit me wasn't hurt. At least I have a car that is able to be hit! At least I have Insurance. At least I can go to bed early tomorrow and catch up on sleep.
And a reminder to myself to put things in Perspective....
Gosh, things can be so much worse.....it's just a bad day and... it's just a car......
I asked myself..."Is this really as bad as you think it is, or are your emotions getting away from you and making it all feel much worse than it is?"
That was easy to answer.....
Gratitude is such a powerful practice. I am alive. I have people around me who care. I am capable. I am powerful. There is always so much to be Grateful for.💕
Sometimes we need these gentle reminders 😉
“Will this matter in a month? In a year?”
No. It won't.
Feeling better. Now off to listen to my favorite podcast

New bike day!!!! Really aero, especially with the neon lights to guide my way. Podium contender for sure. Enjoying some off time with the wife and kids (though I did sneak in a run yesterday in between pools).

This week’s blog post “Swim Out of the Box” is up in my website: www.fortherunofit.info. (I know, this picture has nothing to do with swimming, but it was such a good, hearty, protein packed dinner!) What do you do to get out of your comfort zone? #fortherunofit#isalife#goodnutrition#itri#tridot
Today’s half marathon was probably my favorite because it was literally in my backyard! I didn’t have to wake up until 5:30am to get ready for it! How AWESOME is that!?! @coachjotridot and I weren’t sure what we were gonna do in terms of the run-if push came to shove we’d just do our @tridotsystem plan. But I think I did my body good by using some of my own pace knowledge. I started off conservatively and slowly increased my pace till about mile 6. It was a little early to do my 7:44 min/mi marathon intervals but I got hit by the “run high” and I threw caution to the wind and enjoyed it for a bit. I broke down a little after the trail portion of the run which was at mile 8 or 9. Then I got hit by the sun and my body was like “heat? oh heck naw!” So I ended up going with 0.5mi intervals with breaks. (Lesson for #imtx I need to make sure I start off conservative for the first 15 miles, then increase pace after). I think I did good considering I rode for 6 hours on the trainer Friday, swam 3000 yds Saturday. I got 8th in my age group and wasn’t planning on doing anything serious, so that’s gotta count for something right? And I still hopped on the trainer after the race for an easy hour. When I look at my training schedule, it looks daunting but then I do it and I think it’s amazing that I’m actually performing. Like, seriously @tridotsystem has me performing well with my family, work, and training schedule. It’s crazy when you think about it...

Last race rehearsal before Race Day in two weeks and I felt good and strong! I'm so blessed to have friends like @chewythetreehugga that like to play bikes. Thank you for the adventures girl!
My view for part of the day. Combining a couple of m to passions. First some triathlon training. Excited about my new role as an ambassador for TriDot and in the training mode for Ironman Boulder. Second what better to do with 3 hours on the bike trainer than watch videos to help me find easier ways for people to experience the boost in confidence and self esteem that dentistry can provide. Super excited to roll out Smile Virtual Consults! #tridot , #imboulder , #smilevirtualconsult , #designersmiles
5 weeks to #imtx2019 and my first peak workout is done and dusted! Biked 97 miles round trip to Alabama and ran 40 mins too! Getting there, just not sure how that full marathon is gonna go on race day but I'm trusting the process.
Huge thanks to my dad for supporting my ride as my water supplier and photographer!
T-minus two weeks til Galveston 70.3 and I can unleash the work from the pre-season. TriDot Race rehearsal complete! And complete with cold water temps and some good cross winds on the bike. I turned into a human popsicle post-swim and it took me awhile to find enough warmth to get going on the bike today. But another great training day in the books! #tridot#iamtridot#coachejay#galveston703#ironman
Run Houston Minute Maid 5k this morning. This wasn't a planned race for the season leading up to IMTX703 so surprised I came in 3rd in my AG group!
Also great to see my fellow Alpha @iwasborn2run she dominated her 10k!
I’ve always hated how bulky and muscular I can get. I’ve stopped certain physical activities just to keep myself from gaining too much muscle. Unfortunately, it made my swim, bike and run performance suffer. So I decided a while ago to just go with the flow. If I build it, then so be it. I was excited this morning to see my quads making an appearance after my easy bike. That means my hams aren’t too far off. And pretty soon my arms and back will start to get more defined (cause I lose fat hardest in those areas). This is exciting because I’m seeing better gains during training. I’m getting back to the old Olivia! Let’s get it!!

I decided to do a race report after all to show you what it’s like to race in another country. This @deadseamarathon.run was gorgeous, hot, demoralizing at times but I wouldn’t trade a second of it. I’m so glad I did this unique race at the lowest point on dry land. The Dead Sea is at 430 meters below sea level!
You can check out the link in my 👉🏽bio👈🏽for all the race pictures and a little race report. #medalmonday#racereport#createalifeyoulove
Big thank you to some of my sponsors made this race possible @tridotsystem@balega_international@honeystinger
