🏁 14,0K ⏳ 1:05:50h ⚡️ 4‘42“
Race recap!
Are you bored of my breakfast posts yet? Yesterday’s pre metric marathon fuel was 50g @quakeroatsuk with organic raw cacao i picked up in @tkmaxx@tescofood seedless raisins, topped with frozen rasps and @sweetfreedomuk choc shot 😍
Double Sunday Runday! 🏃♀️🏃♀️
Doing a double run day allowed me 2 hours of quiet time to myself this morning with my reading, writing & prayers. Much needed and I truly believe helped push me through my first run. It was sluggish. After this last week of celebrating turning 30 I ate more sugar than any candy shop has. I am addicted & fully accept it. Sugar is a huge weakness of mine. I love baking and am good at it but it isn't t good for me. Luckily running helps burn the calories but I could tell after this last week of just bingeing on goodies how much it held me back on my run this morning. [Knowing I was taking a week off I kind of went crazy last night] So no baking, sweets or goodies for me this week. I have a relay on Saturday and want to be the best I can be! .
My second run was a bit different. I got to run with a friend. It helped me realize how much more I have than just running, I have amazing running friends. As runners we use our runs not to just work our bodies but our minds. It's a safe place to vent, process & talk. A place to spill emotions all over the pavement. Running can truly be a therapy. I love my running friends and am one blessed runner to have so many! #radridgefieldrunners .
First trail race of the year is just around the corner! 🏃🏼♀️
After last week’s amazing @mitjabarcelona race experience, I’m getting super excited to switch gears and go into full trail mode ⛰
Very excited to be running @coastmtntrail’s Run Ridge Run again! Last year’s ❄️ edition was a ton of fun and the best introduction to the trail racing world!
Can’t wait to see if I can top last year’s time and build a solid base for more trail races this year.
Doing a race in a desert setting like this 👆🏻 would be pretty rad 😊
Some easy recovery miles. I have been struggling with the fact that my paces are slower than they were a couple years ago. I kind of see last year as a hiatus since my training was super inconsistent, and I battled the nagging foot injury. But now that I’ve been back on a regular training schedule the past few months...well my expectation was that I’d just pick up where I left off. It’s been challenging mentally at times. The deal is that I’m still at a goal pace — it’s just not the pace I want to be at or the pace I was at two years ago. Gah. So I’m just trying to shift my attitude and accept where I am now, and working toward (hopefully) getting stronger. Patience and gratitude.🏃🏾♀️🌱 #run#vegan#trackandfield#masterstrack#beatyesterday#igrunners#runhappy
I was deciding between frozen pizza or frozen trader Joe's meal for dinner when I walked past the bread at the store and remembered the hummus in my fridge and suddenly this brilliance popped into my head.... Charred broccoli, caramelized onions, spicy hummus, on sourdough! Was messy and delicious! .

I did an easy 3 miles on the treadmill today. After my long run yesterday, my legs felt pretty sluggish for about the first mile. But then I started watching the TV and the next thing I knew, I was done.
There’s usually at least one TV in the Food Network in the cardio room. Today all three TVs were on the Food Network. Today I watched these kids in a cooking contest. How do those kids even know what those foods are?
I call the guy running on the treadmill Marathon Man. He ran Boston last year and seems to do all of his training on the treadmill at the Y. I’d really like to pick his brain on training, but we’re always running and the cardio room is loud when all of the machines are going. And now I’m wondering if he has a nickname for me.

Today I ran the Warm Up Columbus half marathon! My final time was a 2:07:39 (9:45 ave pace)
I feel a bit conflicted about this race. I wrote a blog post all about it, so check out the link in my bio if you want more details! But i'll keep it simple here:
In short, this race wasn't the confidence boost i was hoping for.
The purpose of today was strictly for training, and i listened. I stuck to the paces. I even tried to argue to go faster.
I couldnt have gone faster.
I was supposed to end feeling like i could run another 10, and i did not feel that way at all. I felt a LOT more tired that i thought i would, and i have no clue why..the paces werent anything more than i do during a training run. Why did it feel so tough today? 😕
I cant be that upset, i still stuck to the plan! And i technically PR'd by 30 minutes lol (my last official half was in june of 2017, and ive improved a lot since then!) but its still no faster than what i've run during an 18 mile long run. You can see now why i feel conflicted 😂
Anyways, im still happy and grateful i had this opportunity. It was a learning experience! Some days just aren't our days. We live and we learn!
Either way, time to get back to business. im ready to get after it and "embrace the suck", as my coach says 😈
I am sometimes amazed at how efficiently my body puts on muscle now. 🙌
That feeling of running fitness is a fav, but that feeling of strength is quickly gaining popularity with me.🤔
I’ve reached that turning point where strength training no longer feels like a humbling punishment, but rather I crave the warm muscle burning feeling of #gainz
P.s all muscles built by plants only 🌱💪 #plantpowered#veganfitness#stillnotnutrientdeficient

I hit 30 miles this week for the first time in a MONTH. My good hip is a little achy and my bad knee, but I think that’s just working through the rust! Every mile wasn’t strong or fast, but they were miles in the sunshine (and in shorts!!) and mostly with a rad running dog so can’t complain one bit 😊📷 @obiwanknoche
Sunday Funday🙌🏼 So much fun teaching downtown this morning, followed with reading by the pool, quick clean of my apartment (love the feeling once it’s done), and now enjoying sangria on my balcony while scheduling the week ahead! Summer has arrived and I could not be more thrilled!☀️🍷
Thanks to this guy for giving me the kick in the butt I needed to start running again 🏃♀️🏃♂️. Even though he didn't feel well yesterday, he insisted we go run. It was the longest run I have done yet since I started training again 3 weeks ago. I felt so good about it that I went on an even longer run today 🏃♀️ #eljefe#running#veganrunner#arizonawinter#decidecommitsucceed
Good morning and happy Sunday!
Yesterday I woke up with a sore throat so I made a smoothie bowl! For the base I added blueberries, kale, cauliflower, berry mix, and pea protein topped with, granola, bluebs, and cacao nibs!
It was so amazing and definitely made me feel better.
Hope everyone has an amazing Sunday! 🌼
I am a creature of habit. I often go through phases of eating the same meals until I am totally sick of them. This combo is my current obsession 😍
@quakeroatsuk cooked on the hob with apple, cinnamon and @pbfit.uk topped with stewed sweet plums. So good 🤤
Apple and cinnamon oats what’s new??? 😍😍 however I did venture out and get some persimmons (persimmon club @fitnesswithfruit 😎) and I like them but they were a bit too hard so weren’t the best but I was too inpatient to leave them to ripen enough 😂😂 also topped with a blood orange, banana, chopped apple, peanut butter and @creativenature chia seeds (10% off with aspoonofpeanutbutter10 !)🥣🥣
something miraculous happened this morning... I got to church 10 minutes early🙌🏻 .
But then I remember that I didn’t turn my oven off and had to go make sure my house wasn’t burning down, 30 minutes later... another PR in the books😂
My knee jerk reaction was to be mad at myself, but why do we have to be so hard on ourselves?
It’s okay to be caught in the act of being human. More love, less judgement. If you forget something, most likely the world is not going to end. If you don’t get it all done today, that’s okay, we have tomorrow. If you choose to go have a beer instead of meal prepping, that’s okay too. Or if you prefer to stay in and meal prep, cool! But whatever you do, give yourself grace
But seriously - if you’re like me and choose to go play instead of meal prep, this easy as pie overnight oats will save you this week 👇
In my bowl
Spiced 🍎Apple Overnight Oats:
1/2 cup oats
1 cup almond milk
Optional: Chia seeds, hemp hearts, protein powder
Mix everything together and place in the fridge over night
Topped with chopped apple, sautéed in coconut oil, cinnamon, and ginger (you can prep this in advance too), bee pollen, hemp hearts, @eatnuttzo crunchy nut butter, freeze dried raspberries, and more almond milk
