Thanks to efforts by the WA Education Department and Royal Life Saving Society WA to find a suitable swimming instructor, January’s VacSwim program was able to reach one of WA’s most remote communities – the small town of Warburton, situated in the Gibson Desert.⠀
Warburton Swimming Pool Manager Steve Girschik knows the difficulty of finding swimming teachers for the remote location. “I can honestly say that none of the VacSwim programs in Warburton could have taken place without the assistance of Royal Life Saving WA."⠀
The program's success was largely due to the passion and dedication of instructor Diana Papenfus, who did an amazing job with the Warburton children.⠀
From Wembley to North Fremantle, our repairs and services team are available for a visit to conduct regular or casual servicing on your pool or spa. Our onsite testing will perfect your pool in no time 👌🏼
Magnificent day to head down to Somerton Surf Life Saving Club to join in the Surf Babies and Little Life Savers fun. Numbers in the program have more than doubled after the Marshall Government subsidised the cost down to $50 from $100. Great to be joined by SLSA president John Baker and spend the morning with surf mum, Ina, daughter Nola, and dozens of kids having a “swell” time. @surflifesa#watersafety

Here at Russell Aquatics, learning to swim is more than about strokes and dives. It’s learning the skills needed to get yourself out of a dangerous situation, such as unintentionally falling into the water 💦
This is Miss Alessia teaching Matthew about jumping into the water and swimming to the side. He’s doing roll over breathing which allows him to get a breath when he’s tired. Matthew now knows that if he needed a breath he can roll onto his back to get one, then roll onto his front and keep going!
Early exposure is key and we teach these skills to all ages. Registration for our March Break and Spring programs is now available on our website!
A drinking and boating accident has caused a disagreement between three Court of Appeal for Ontario judges working on the case.
In 2017, an Ontario woman was charged with two counts of operating a vessel while having a blood alcohol content of more than 80mg per 100mL. The boating accident caused injury to five individuals, all who were riding in the boat at the time of the incident. The convicted has appealed her conviction, as she believes some evidence should not have been counted due to her Charter rights being violated.

Last year SurFebruary raised just over our 20k target, and to beat that goal in 6 days this year is incredible. In 2019 we set our goal at 50k, and we've already almost reached it! 😁 Continue to support our mission against cancer with the link in our bio
The United States Lifesaving Association statistics over a ten-year period show that the chance of drowning at a beach without lifeguard protection is almost five times as great as drowning at a beach with lifeguards. Keep your family safe this spring break and only swim on beaches with a lifeguard on duty!
We love our student’s smiles! This little minnow is having a great time in her class. We never have more than four students in a class to make sure each student gets one-on-one attention with our instructors. #goswimstl
All her hard work is paying off swimmingly well. The #Joy_Child placed first in all her races, recording 2 school records, and made up valuable time for her team in their medley relay (butterfly) and ladder freestyle with a twist - wearing team colours. .
After all was said and done, all she wanted to know was what reward would I give her to which I replied that her best reward was life topped off by love.
“Scary situation this morning at Pipeline after Argentina’s @nahuelamalfi got pinned to the reef. He was unable to walk by the time he was washed in to the shore and in severe amounts of pain, picked up by fellow surfers and brought to seek medical attention with the @northshorelifeguardassociation. ‘I hit both my legs and lost feeling in them. It was gnarly. I couldn’t feel my legs for around 30 seconds; they went completely numb. I need an MRI to see what’s wrong with my ankles. Just glad I didn’t hit head first.’ We’re sending healing vibes his way.” - @shannonreporting 📷 @northshore_surfphotos 🌊 #freesurfmag#stillfree

2019 has brought a new year and a new calendar but the same ache in our hearts.
2018 was the year I never imagined. I want it behind me, want to run as far away as possible from it. Yet, I want to hold onto it, this final year with Levi.
I have always believed in the power of words, and never has their magic proven so true. Words will be my way through this pain. They will help me grieve the loss of Levi, feel connected with the universe, and spread the awareness about drowning I wish I had known.
When I think about this article that I wrote just weeks after pulling my son from the bottom of a pool, I feel a dagger in my heart. I desperately wish I never had the reason to write it.
But, I also remember the moment when I realized these words were inside me fighting to get out, and I had no choice but to release them. Writing means to open your soul, and I was terrified. I only shared the rough draft (and the actual email I sent to the AAP) with very few close friends and family. My heart fills every time I remember their immediate and unanimous response: “Of course you will write it. And we will share it far and wide, because it has to be read.” Their belief in me and their love for Levi as I took the scariest step of my life is a gift I will always treasure.
I wrote this article over 3 days in stolen moments when the girls were occupied or asleep. I was so afraid of the risks that I would never have published the finished copy had @scarymommy not told me I was courageous and they would be honored to share it. Yet, the impact wasn’t from my words at all but from the collective power of each person who read and shared this article. The collective power of strangers, old friendships, and a new treasured friendship unlikely created from shared tragedy of losing our babies miles apart on the same day.
No amount of choosing the good brings Levi back to hold Lily’s hand or to run squealing around the house with Reese. This is the reality of what 2018 stole from our family. But, 2018 gave to us, as well, as it revealed the best and the worst of what it means to be human.
Instagram vs. Reality: all smiles for the 📸 but all 😭 for Azi’s entire first swim lesson. I knew it was going to happen, but it still broke mama’s heart 💔. Miri was a lane over and was being such a good big sister and kept waving at her sad baby bro 😍👋🏻. I’m not too worried. I know Az Man will be a little fishy, just like M, in no time. #justkeepswimming 🐳🙏🏻 Are your kids in swim lessons? I’d love to hear your experiences 👇🏻!
