Saturday was possibly one of the proudest moments of my life. I stood on the start line of the ITU Winter Triathlon World Championships representing Great Britain as an elite athlete, lining up with some of those who I have looked up to throughout my career. . I had a good race from the start but sadly crashed out on the bike mid way so it didn’t quite finish as planned, however I picked myself up and I did finish. . In all honesty, those around me know I kept this quite from the world as the competitive mindset in me worried about my pride and letting myself down as I ventured into the unknown, with the fear of the dreaded last place. I DID come last, however I have quickly come to realise in my disappointment that I had everything to be proud of by just standing on the start line and being counted with some of the worlds best. . What I have learned from this race is: 1. Do not to be ashamed for standing up and being counted, being brave and continue to challenge yourself whatever the outcome may be. This is where success grows from. 2. In my time of darkness during that race is that you DON’T GIVE UP. You finish. You owe that out of respect to your competition to a fair victory, you owe it to yourself and you owe it to those who have supported you to finish what you started, no matter how hard or difficult the circumstances. . On Saturday I was inspired by a speech - Man in the Arena by Theodore Rooservelt. It was sent to me by a good friend of mine who knew the challenges ahead and it truly inspired me to be brave and courageous with my ambitions. I hope that this may encourage others to be brave and pursue their ambitions like it has done for me. . Despite the result, the experience of my first elite race gave me the world of confidence for heading into a season of Xterra as an elite. YYYEEEEEEEEEEWWWW πŸ€˜πŸ»πŸ€™πŸ»πŸ’ͺ🏻. . I cannot be more grateful to those who have supported me through this incredible journey. This is where a new chapter begins. . @bjracingtri @betteryou_ltd @4endurance @firstendurance @we_are_sungod @vankru_cycling @thealtitudecentre . #triathlon #wintertriathlon #teamgb #worldchampionship #triathlete #triathlon_in_the_world #run #mtb #ski
